Hornets vs Hawks

This game was crazy. Every game from now to the end of the season is important, but this one had a special feel to it.

Coming into tonight the Hawks were on fire. They had won 3 straight, led by their all-star point guard Trae Young, who had dropped 40+ in back-to-back games. We knew we could score against this team we just needed to be able to stop Young.

This was one of the best-coached games I’d ever seen from James Borrego. His game plan to lock down Trae Young, who only finished with 8 points, was amazing. I feel that most of the leagues’ coaching happens outside of gameplay, for instance in strategy, play creation, overall team philosophy, and comradery.

Despite locking down Young scoring-wise, the defense that we were playing led to a lot of open threes for the Hawks. This was what kept them in the game as it seemed like they just couldn’t miss. The entire game was back and forth, but we just knew we had to have a strong fourth quarter in-order to win.

And a strong fourth quarter is just what we did. PJ Washington single-handily outscored the Hawks in the last three minutes and we stole the win and the ninth spot in the east from the Atlanta Hawks. A great night to be a Hornets fan.
