First road win. Hornets vs. Cavaliers
Hornets vs. Cavaliers.
The Hornets traveled to Cleveland Friday to play the Cavaliers in their first road game of the season. The Cavs seemed to be in control of the game in the first half but the Hornets stayed with it, mostly because of the brilliant play of Kelly Oubre. Oubre had 17 points at half and looked like a true scorer. Going into halftime the Hornets knew they needed to play better.
They came out of the locker room and used their speed to take advantage of the Cavs on fastbreaks after a steal or rebound. Hornets struggled some guarding the Cavs guard Collin Sexton. My player of the game was Kelly Oubre. He brought a much needed spark off the bench that kept us in the game. With Terry Rozier back from his injury Oubre was pushed to sixth man and he did not disappoint, finishing with 25 points and 4 threes.
One thing that stood out to me was that Coach Borrego decided to stay with the 9 man rotation that he used in the opener. That includes rookie guard James Bouknight getting little to no playing time. We’ll see if that stays the same Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets.
