Hornets vs Lakers

The Hornets took another L in overtime Monday against the Los Angles Lakers. This was another back and forth game from the start. The Lakers took a little bit of the momentum in the third quarter behind big buckets from Carmelo Anthony and Anthony Davis, but the Hornets came surging back in the fourth quarter. Then a Miles Bridges three tied the game, sending us into overtime.

In overtime, the Hornets played good but found themselves down 126 – 123 with 35 seconds left. Three solid looks from behind the arc didn’t fall for the Hornets and the game was over.

This relatively inexperienced Hornets squad fought hard against a very experienced Lakers team. Gordon Hayward, Miles Bridges, Terry Rozier, and LaMelo Ball each had a great game. Rozier finally had his breakout game after dealing with some injuries to start the season, leading the Hornets in scoring with 29 points on 11 – 22 shooting.

LaMelo Ball, who had a second triple double of his career, is my player of the game. Ball did everything on the floor tonight as he finished with 25 points 15 rebounds and 11 assists. He definitely is looking like he can be an all star this season.

The Hornets lost all four games in California to extend their losing streak to 5. They travel back to the other side of the country Wednesday to play the Memphis Grizzlies and their star point guard Ja Morant.
