Hornets vs Pistons
Three days after getting absolutely demolished by the Phoenix Suns on their home court, the Hornets were the ones doing the demolishing against the Detroit Pistons.
Once the Hornets got out to a 18 point lead at the end of the first they never turned back. At the end of the third quarter the Hornets had already notched the 100 point mark while the Pistons were stuck on 75.
Pretty much everybody that stepped foot on the court for the Hornets contributed. Our all star LaMelo Ball did all star caliber things putting up a near triple double once again with 12 points 12 assists and 8 rebounds. Starting forwards Miles Bridges and Gordon Hayward both dropped 19 and Terry Rozier had 16 points and 6 dimes. PJ Washington in his return from covid contributed with 14 points and 8 boards with only 2 missed shots. As a team we set the franchise record with 24 three pointers made.
Like I said everyone put in there two cents, but the man that contributed the most this game was our 6th man Kelly Oubre. Kelly didn’t seem to be playing amazing, as he only had 8 points entering the final twelve minutes, but in the first 8 minutes of the fourth quarter Kelly Paul Oubre Jr. made 8 three pointers! It marked the second most threes made in a quarter, and Kelly did it in eight minutes. This had to be one of the craziest things I’ve ever witnessed live. The energy in Spectrum Center when this was happening was amazing.
Now blowouts like this shouldn’t be surprising given the fact that we were playing a team that had only won 7 games this whole season, but after the beatdown we’ve took from teams like the Jazz and Suns it was nice to see us return the favor.
The Hornets have to keep playing with heart and grit because these next two games against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks might be the toughest all season.
