Hornets vs Trail Blazers

Despite point guard LaMelo Ball making his comeback after a tough bout with Covid19, the Hornets still fell to the Trail Blazers 116 – 125.

LaMelo Ball, my player of the game, came back and instantly delivered, dropping 27 points in 29 minutes for the Hornets. Miles Bridges showed off his playmaking side dishing with a career-high 11 assist to go along with 14 points.

Despite our All-Stars playing well the Hornets simply couldn’t guard the three. Portland scored 81 points in the first half and drilled 21 threes in the game. Someone else we struggled with was guarding Blazers star Damian Lillard. Mr. Lillard erupted for 43 points on 12 – 17 shooting.

The Hornets were able to cut the twenty-nine-point lead to six with 1:12 to go, but Blazers guard Ben McLemore iced the game with 49 seconds left via one of his eight threes on the night.

I’ve seen lots of comments on social media bashing Hornets coach James Borrego for not playing LaMelo Ball in the fourth and saying that Ball and Bridges will leave for a different team when their contracts are up. Everyone needs to chill out! This was the first game with everyone back and fully healthy and we have a chance to rebuttal Sunday night against the Phoenix Suns.

Point Guard

Most everybody has heard of LaMelo’s brothers and their relationship with basketball, but his mom also played. She played varsity all four years of high school and averaged 15.8 points per game. She then went on to play at California State, which is where she meant LaVar Ball.
