NBA All-Star 2022-Rising Stars
LaMelo Ball got his weekend started early as he played in the Clorox Rising Stars game Friday night. Two years ago we saw Miles Bridges completely take over this event and win Rising Stars MVP. With a new format that has the games going to 50 Ball couldn’t really put on a Miles Bridges type show, but he still finished with 8 points. It was really cool to see Ball out there hooping with other young stars in the NBA, but I could definitely tell he was saving most of his tricks for Sunday night.
All-Star game
LaMelo Ball didn’t start or play any in the first quarter, but he still got time in the second to show what he was about. He finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in the second quarter alone. Much to my dismay, Heat coach Erik Spoeltstra sat Ball the whole third quarter as well. He did get in a few minutes into the fourth and finished the game with 18 points in 22 minutes. Team Durant lost thanks to LeBron James game winning shot, raising $300,000 for the the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
One thing I didn’t like about this game was that the guy that stole Miles Bridges’ spot Khris Middleton got 21 minutes and only scored 5 points on 1 for 8 shooting. I know Miles would’ve done a lot better and had more highlights.
This weekend was a lot of fun (except for that dunk contest) and LaMelo Ball proudly represented the Charlotte Hornets. I’m sure that we’ll see him in that All-Star position for many years to come, maybe even as a starter next year.
We are back home Friday against the Raptors.
