3rd straight loss. Hornets vs Kings
Hornets vs Kings
The Hornets lost their third straight game Friday tonight against the Kings in Sacramento. This loss was pretty draining for me to watch. Once again the Hornets got destroyed on the glass 28 – 56. We played horrible defense both inside the paint and out, and gave up 22 three-pointers, which is now a Kings franchise record.
Our offensive struggles continued, this time it was our leading scorer Miles Bridges who only had 10 points on 4- 14 shooting. Bridges wasn’t the only one who struggled though. Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre, who are both integral parts of our team, combined for only 18 points on 7 for 24 shooting. Allowing a team to score 140 is bad especially when we only scored 110.
One of the bright spots from this game was Gordon Hayward who had 25 points on 10 – 17 shooting. Hayward has quietly been one of the most consistent players in the NBA this season, averaging 18 points per game on 50% shooting from the field and 49% from three.
My player of the game is second-year point guard LaMelo Ball who scored 24 points 13 assists and had 4 threes. Aside from the usual switching hands in mid-air layups and fancy no-look passes, Ball did everything he could do on both sides of the ball to try to affect the game, but he didn’t get the support he needed.
The Hornets stay in California for Sunday’s game against Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers. I hope we can put aside our previous struggles, play together as a team, and get back on the winning side.
